This handful of titles will help support teaching and learning about addition, measurement and patterns.

 


365 Penguins.  Jean-Luc Fromental and Joelle Jolivet.  Abrams, 2006.
A family receives on penguin a day for 365 days, creating all sorts of problems.  On New Year’s Eve, Uncle Victor, an ecologist, arrives explaining that he has been sending them because he wants to take them to the North Pole where he thinks they will have a better chance of survival.  The family breathes a sigh of relief when he takes all but one.  The next day, a bigger box arrives—with a polar bear.  Lots of problem solving with multiplication.  Oversize Picture Book.
